help(celdario)Celdario 1.0 · viewer and editor for Jupyter notebooks (nbformat 4) macOS 13 or later · Apple silicon · no kernel, no network
Any .ipynb in nbformat 4, which is every notebook saved by Jupyter since 2015. Older nbformat 2 and 3 files are reported as unsupported rather than guessed at; open them once in Jupyter and save to upgrade them.
Images embedded in the notebook always show. Images referenced by a relative path (for example ) live next to the notebook, outside the app's sandbox, so Celdario shows a bar asking for access to the folder. Click Grant Access… once and the grant is remembered for that folder. You can forget all grants in Settings ▸ Privacy.
No, by design. Celdario shows the outputs that were saved in the file, and never starts a kernel. If you need to execute cells, use Jupyter; Celdario is for reading, searching, tidying and sharing.
Select it and press Return, or double-click it. ⌘Return (or ⇧Return) keeps the change, Esc discards it. The Cell menu inserts, moves, retypes and deletes cells, and everything is undoable with ⌘Z.
| Find | ⌘F find · ⌥⌘F find and replace · ⌘G / ⇧⌘G next / previous |
|---|---|
| Cells | ↑ ↓ or K J select · A / B insert above / below · D D delete · M Y R Markdown / code / raw |
| Move | ⌥⌘↑ / ⌥⌘↓ move the selected cell |
| View | ⌃⌘S sidebar · ⇧⌘L line numbers · ⌘+ / ⌘− / ⌘0 text size |
It opens the cell's raw nbformat structure, including metadata, outputs and attachments, in the editor. It is the right tool for fixing a tag or a metadata key and the wrong tool for everything else, which is why it can be switched off in Settings ▸ Editing.
nb.save() # what changes on disk?
Only the cells you edited. Everything else is written back byte-for-byte, so diffs in version control show your change and nothing else.
File ▸ Export To offers HTML (one self-contained file), PDF (paginated), Markdown (with images written next to the file) and a script in the notebook's language. File ▸ Print… prints with the same pagination as the PDF.
Launch Celdario once after installing so macOS registers its Quick Look extension, then select a notebook in Finder and press Space. If another app is claiming .ipynb previews, you can choose which extension to use in System Settings ▸ General ▸ Login Items & Extensions ▸ Quick Look.
Email support@virgee.com. If a particular notebook misbehaves and you can share it, attach it; if you cannot, the output of Cell ▸ Edit Cell as JSON for the cell involved is usually enough. Include your macOS version and the Celdario version from About Celdario.
