Celdario Privacy Policy

The Short Version

Celdario collects nothing. The app has no account, no analytics, no crash reporting of its own and no network code: it opens the notebook files you choose and never sends anything anywhere. Here's the whole picture:

We never:

  • See, upload, index or back up the contents of your notebooks
  • Collect usage analytics, crash reports or device identifiers in the app
  • Sell or share personal data with anyone
  • Set cookies or run third-party scripts on celdario.app
  • Track you across other apps or websites

If you want the details, keep reading. If you want to check, see Section 4.

1. Who We Are

Celdario is made by Virgee LLC ("we," "us," "our"). It is a viewer and editor for Jupyter notebook files (.ipynb) for macOS, sold on the Mac App Store, with a website at celdario.app (together, the "Service"). If you have questions about this policy, contact us at privacy@virgee.com.

2. What Data We Collect

2.1 In the app

None. Celdario has no sign-in, no account and no telemetry. It works with:

DataWhere it livesPurpose
Notebook files you open or saveOn your disk, where you put themReading, searching, editing and exporting them. They are never transmitted.
Folder access grantsSecurity-scoped bookmarks on your MacShowing images that a notebook references by relative path. Revocable in Settings ▸ Privacy.
Preferences (appearance, font size, options)Your Mac's user defaultsRemembering how you like the app.
Exported files (HTML, PDF, Markdown, script)Wherever you choose to save themSharing a notebook with people who don't have Jupyter.

2.2 Data we collect automatically

In the app, none. On celdario.app, our hosting provider records ordinary server logs (IP address, user agent, requested page, timestamp) for a short retention period in order to serve and protect the site. We do not add analytics, pixels or cookies on top of that.

2.3 Data you provide directly

If you email privacy@virgee.com, we receive your address and whatever you include in the message, such as a notebook you attach to reproduce a problem. We use it only to help you.

2.4 Data we do NOT collect

  • The contents, names or locations of your notebooks
  • Usage analytics, feature events or session recordings
  • Crash reports from inside the app (see Section 5 for Apple's own, opt-in reports)
  • Device identifiers, advertising identifiers or fingerprints
  • Your contacts, photos, location, camera or microphone

3. How We Use Your Data

With so little collected, the list is short:

PurposeLegal basis (GDPR)Data used
Respond to support requestsContract performance / legitimate interestYour email and message
Operate and secure celdario.appLegitimate interestServer logs
Comply with legal obligationsLegal obligationAs required by law

We do not use any data for advertising, profiling, selling to data brokers, or any purpose unrelated to supporting Celdario.

4. The App Never Connects

Celdario renders notebooks with WebKit. macOS does not let a sandboxed app start WebKit without a network entitlement, so Celdario holds one, and then blocks every outgoing request with a WebKit content rule list and a Content Security Policy. HTML embedded in a notebook output cannot load remote resources either. The app contains no networking code of its own. You can confirm this with any network monitor: the app never opens a connection.

5. Third-Party Services

Celdario itself uses none. Around it:

ServiceProviderPurposeData involved
Mac App StoreApple Inc.Purchase, download, updatesHandled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. We receive aggregate sales figures only. If you opted in to sharing diagnostics with developers in macOS, Apple may forward anonymised crash logs to us.
VercelVercel Inc.Hosting celdario.appServer logs as described in Section 2.2
CloudflareCloudflare Inc.DNS for our domainsStandard DNS queries; no personal data from us

We use no advertising networks, analytics providers, crash reporters or AI services in Celdario.

6. Data Storage & Security

Everything Celdario works with stays on your Mac. The app runs inside the macOS App Sandbox with the Hardened Runtime, can only read and write files you have chosen in an Open or Save panel, dropped onto it, or granted access to by folder, and keeps those folder grants as security-scoped bookmarks that never leave the machine. Deleting the app (or its container) removes its preferences and grants; your notebooks are untouched because they were never ours.

7. Data Retention

  • Support email: kept for as long as needed to resolve your request, then deleted within 12 months.
  • Website server logs: retained by our host for a short period (typically days) and then discarded.
  • Everything else: nothing is retained because nothing is collected.

8. Your Rights & Choices

For all users

You can stop Celdario from reading a folder at any time (Settings ▸ Privacy ▸ Forget All Folder Access), delete the app and its container, and ask us to delete any support correspondence by emailing privacy@virgee.com.

For EU/EEA residents (GDPR)

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or port personal data we hold, to object to processing based on legitimate interest, and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. In practice the only personal data we could hold is a support email thread; ask and we will delete it within 30 days.

For California residents (CCPA/CPRA)

You have the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, to request deletion, and to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information and never have. Requests go to the address above; we will not discriminate against you for making one.

9. Children's Privacy

Celdario is not directed at children under 13 and, since it collects nothing, we knowingly hold no data from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, tell us and we will delete it.

10. International Data Transfers

Virgee LLC is based in the United States. The only data that could cross a border is a support email you send us and the website's server logs, which our host may process in the US. By contacting us you understand that your message will be handled there.

11. Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, this page changes first, with a new "Last Updated" date, and the App Store listing is updated to match. A material change (for example, if a future version of Celdario ever added an optional online feature) will be called out clearly in the release notes and here.
